The Duneland Family YMCA Dancing Like the Stars event is getting ready to hit the stage! This memorable evening brings together neighbors, friends, colleagues and more to celebrate the Duneland Family YMCA and cheer on their favorite dancers. The event will take place on Saturday, November 8, at the Blue Chip Casino.
Dancing Like the Stars is the signature fundraising event for the Duneland Family YMCA’s annual campaign, playing a vital role in supporting our mission. Proceeds directly subsidize essential programs and provide scholarships for local families which ensures that everyone in our community has access to the resources they need to live healthier, more connected lives.
From childcare at the Forchetti Family YMCA Center for Early Learning, to fitness and group exercise at the original Roosevelt location, to swimming lessons, senior programs, and more at the Duneland YMCA Healthy Living Campus, the Y remains deeply committed to enriching lives across every age and stage.
“Dancing Like the Stars is always a joyful night of our community coming together to celebrate each other and raise lifechanging funds,” said Dave Kasarda, Duneland Family YMCA Chief Executive Officer. “We are grateful that year after year, 600 Duneland neighbors attend this event and provide generous support to our organization.”
This year’s event is themed “Color Ball” and promises to be a vibrant and fun evening. Each dancer has chosen a song that references a different color, and they will perform dances choreographed by local studio Powerhouse Dance. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in their dancer’s color selection or black-tied preferred.
Nine community leaders have volunteered to be the featured dancers for this year’s event, and this fantastic group represents the best parts of Duneland. They include:
- Dana Adelman, Duneland Family YMCA
- Kelly Sieman, Duneland Chamber of Commerce
- Michelle Renninger, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate
- Jenny Vidimos, Retired; Duneland School Corporation
- Tim Whalen, AECOM
- Blake and Jami Crisman, Cleveland-Cliffs
- Adam and Kasie Tenbarge, Duneland School Corporation and First Things First Porter County
