MEMBERSHIP POLICIES

Continuous Membership

All memberships at the Duneland Family YMCA are continuous and automatically renew on a monthly basis. Your membership will remain active until a cancellation request is submitted.

How to Cancel

You may cancel your membership at any time, either online or in person at the Welcome Center.
To avoid future drafts, cancellation requests must be submitted by the end of the month prior to your next scheduled payment date. Monthly drafts occur on the 15th of each month.
If your cancellation request is received after the end of the month, one final draft will occur before your membership ends.

Payment Drafts & Processing Fees

Membership dues are automatically drafted on the 15th of each month.

  • Members using a debit or credit card will be charged an additional $2 processing fee per draft.

  • Members using bank account (ACH) drafts will not be charged any additional processing fees.

  • All other credit or debit card payments (outside of auto-draft) will incur a 3% processing fee per transaction.

Please make sure your payment information is current and valid to avoid disruptions to your membership.

Returned Payments & Final Drafts

If a payment is returned or declined, we’ll do our best to contact you.

  • For returned debit or credit card payments, we’ll attempt a redraft within 24–36 hours.

  • If the redraft fails, we will contact you and attempt up to two additional drafts.

  • A $25 returned payment fee may be applied, in addition to any fees from your financial institution.

If you cancel after the cutoff date, you are still responsible for the final scheduled draft.

Updating Payment Information

To prevent service interruptions or fees, please notify us promptly if your banking or card information changes.

  • Sex Offender Registry

The Duneland Family YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests. If a match is found, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel membership, end program participation, and revoke visitation privileges.

    Membership & Program Policies

    • Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

    • Program fees are only refundable if the YMCA cancels the program or class.

    • The YMCA reserves the right to change fees, instructors, schedules, locations, and program offerings without prior notice.

    • Any account with a balance due for more than 30 days will be terminated and may be turned over to a collection agency.

INSURANCE-BASED THIRD PARTY MEMBERSHIPS

Various health insurance policies provide access to fitness center benefits. Membership through a third-party insurance policy provides all the basic Y membership benefits. The difference is YOU pay NOTHING to us.  The Y bills the third party based on your usage for partial reimbursement of regular membership dues. Benefits vary depending on the policy.

Our Y contracts with the following third-party providers:

  • AARP
  • Prime Medicare
  • Silver & Fit
  • Silver Sneakers

To get started, contact the Customer Service number on the back of your insurance card.  Ask a representative if you have a “WELLNESS FACILITY BENEFIT.”  If your insurance company representative names one of the programs listed above, you should be eligible at our location.

Please ask for the following information:

  • Name of the benefit
  • Member I.D./Fitness I.D. numbers
  • Eligibility date(s)
  • Is there an enrollment or monthly fee paid to the third-party provider?

You will need to share this information with a Y Member Services Staff. A photo I.D. is required. Upon verification, you will be asked to fill out the proper forms.  Benefits and participation can change after enrollment periods or based on contracts and pricing that your insurance receives from these third-party providers.  We regularly conduct eligibility checks and discontinue access based on third-party feedback.  If your insurance changes, please contact us immediately.
