COACTION EXPANDS COMMUNITY ACCESS THROUGH DUNELAND FAMILY YMCA HEALTHY LIVING CAMPUS

CoAction, Northwest Indiana’s Community Action Agency, is expanding access to critical resources through a new presence at the Duneland Family YMCA Healthy Living Campus (Duneland YHLC), creating a convenient location where Duneland area residents can connect with essential support services close to home.

CoAction serves individuals and families from infancy through older adulthood who are experiencing financial hardship, working to create a Northwest Indiana where people can flourish regardless of income, ability, or age.

Residents who contact CoAction and require in-person assistance will have the opportunity to meet with CoAction staff at the YMCA Healthy Living Campus. In addition to serving clients, the space will provide a convenient location for collaboration with local organizations, strengthening the network of support available to the Duneland community.

“This space gives our team a home base in Chesterton while still keeping our work rooted in the community,” said Jen Trowbridge, CEO of CoAction. “It allows us to meet people where they are while also welcoming them into a space designed for collaboration and support.”

Through its comprehensive network of programs, CoAction helps individuals and families achieve greater stability and independence by connecting them with housing resources, financial assistance and coaching, nutrition support, and services for older adults and individuals with disabilities. From helping families secure safe and affordable housing to assisting seniors in maintaining independence and addressing food insecurity, CoAction’s work focuses on empowering neighbors and building stronger communities.

The addition of CoAction at the Duneland Family YMCA Healthy Living Campus reflects a shared commitment to building a stronger, healthier community. By increasing access to essential resources and creating new opportunities for collaboration among local organizations, this effort will help support individuals and families throughout the Duneland area for years to come.
