Water Safety Pop Up Event
At our Water Safety Pop-Up Event, families will learn the essentials of staying safe around water in a fun, engaging way. Participants will review key pool rules such as walking instead of running, staying in shallow water if you’re not a strong swimmer, and understanding the dangers of diving, rough play, and holding your breath underwater. Children will learn why adult supervision is critical, how to ask permission before entering the water, and the importance of having a focused adult nearby. They’ll also be introduced to basic rescue techniques through the “Reach or Throw, Don’t Go” method, practicing how to help someone safely using floating objects like noodles or towels. Finally, the session will cover when and how to properly wear a life jacket, including how to identify those approved by the U.S. Coast Guard.
During the 30-minute mini lesson in the pool, participants will review key pool rules and practice asking for permission before entering the water. Kids will take part in fun kick games and try submerging without goggles to build comfort and confidence. The lesson also introduces the Swim-Float-Swim technique, which helps swimmers conserve energy and stay safe in the water. After the lesson, families can enjoy a 30-minute free swim session, with optional swim tests and life jackets available for those who need them.
