Safe Sitter Essentials
Safe Sitters Essentials is a structured 5 and 1/2 hour instructor-led class. There will be breaks and lunch incorporated into the course. This course is for students in 7th & 8th grade.
In this course, students gain essential skills to help them recognize and prevent unsafe situations, and learn how to respond effectively to emergencies such as power failures and severe weather. They are taught practical strategies for managing behavior, helping them stay in control of both themselves and the children they care for. Students explore the ages and stages of child development, practice important caregiving skills like diapering, and develop professional abilities such as screening job opportunities, setting fees, and confidently greeting employers. Through a variety of engaging role-play activities, students are able to practice and build confidence in these important skills, setting them up for success now and in the future.
