For the Annual Strong Kids Campaign this summer (2009), each department at the Y was challenged to raise a little money to fund scholarships for childcare, memberships, and other Y programs for folks who otherwise would not be able to afford our services. The preschool staff was very hard working and creative and held different contests and raffles to raise money and they raised over $900 which is so very amazing.

Every year your Duneland Family YMCA offers a variety of programs and activities to the children of the Duneland Community. These programs include swimming, basketball, gymnastics as well as childcare in coordination with the Duneland School Cooperation. Unfortunately, not all families in the Duneland area are able to afford to enroll their children in YMCA programs.

At a time with Chesterton families face mounting challenges posed by a tumultuous economy, the Duneland Family YMCA continues to provide options for parents and their children to live happier and healthier lives—to which the Board of Directors of the YMCA has a strong commitment. We believe that the positive experience children receive from the YMCA programs builds the kind of character and values in our youth needed to promote responsible young adults for our community.

Our goal is to raise $60,000 to provide scholarships for children and families from all income levels to participate in YMCA programs. To assist the YMCA in continuing this scholarship and program service to the youth of our community, the Board of Directors of the YMCA asks that you consider making an annual pledge of your financial support. No pledge is too small and any gift you make will be sincerely appreciated.

Remember, your generosity makes you a hero to the kids in our community.
