Volunteer Today!
Extra time on your hands? Bring your energy and ideas to help us make the YMCA a better place! Volunteers are the backbone of the YMCA. Volunteers not only founded the YMCA, but operated it in its entirety in the early days. The involvement today of thousands of talented, committed individuals greatly extends the range, quality, and variety of YMCA programs.
At the YMCA, your talent and time go a long way. Every hour you spend as a YMCA volunteer translates into the caring attention a child or teen need to grow healthy and resilient. It translates into support for families so they can be successful and strong. Into healthier lives for people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and incomes.
As a YMCA volunteer, you can lead an exercise class, read a book to a preschool class, coach a basketball team, supervise the Teen Center on Friday nights, make copies of packets at the day care, greet people at the front desk, serve as a role model for young people, or be a part of a group of committee working on a neighborhood problem.
No matter how you help, you'll make a big difference as you work with others to create a feeling of connectedness in your community.
To solve the problems closest to home, or better yet, prevent them-the YMCA needs people like you!
All Volunteers are required to have a Criminal Background check on file. To volunteer at teh YMCA call us at (219) 926-4204 or come in...you'll be glad you did!
